Hunger Map 2011: The truth of the Milanese
Today there thousand twenty million (1,020,000,000) of undernourished people in the world. This means that at least one in six people do not have enough food to stay healthy and lead an active life. Hunger and malnutrition worldwide are considered the main risk to health, more than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
Hunger not only affects the individual but also imposes an economic burden for global development. Economists estimate that a child whose physical and mental development is stunted by hunger and malnutrition, can stop receiving between 5-10 percent of the total income of life.
Note the road is still ahead in Latin America.
